The Stimulus Act and Renewable Energies

About the AuthorPart of the Stimulus Bill in Congress is dedicated to Energy. In fact, $8.5 billion is earmarked for renewable energy projects. So what is renewable energy? Renewable energy or green energy is electrical energy that is produced from clean and renewable energy sources. Renewable energy comes from sources that are less or non-polluting, such as wind, solar and water. By using wind or water to spin turbines, or the sun to heat fuel cells, you can produce electricity without using fossil fuels. Traditional energy sources, such as coal and natural gas power plants, emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and deplete our fossil fuels. Using green energy reduces smog, greenhouse gases, and air pollution.

How do you choose Green Energy? Well, if you have a choice about who supplies your electricity, you can choose to switch your Texas electric service to a retail electricity provider that offers power like wind. If you don’t have a choice of electricity providers, you can contact your current electric company and request renewable energy option credits. Most Texas electricity customers now have the option of using a green energy product from their electricity provider or switching to a provider that has a renewable energy product. In fact, Texas now produces more wind power than any other state and has aggressive plans to produce much more in the near future.

One of the most popular green energy options available is Green Mountain Energy (GME). GME is the largest retail provider of cleaner electricity to residential and business customers in the US and has many plans to choose from. You can choose green energy credits or electricity service options like 100% wind power. Many companies are also taking note of their impact on our natural resources. There has been a tremendous move in recent years towards energy and companies are taking notice of their carbon footprint and their impact on the environment. Many companies use green energy credits and adopt comprehensive energy efficiency initiatives for their entire organization. Let’s hope that the new Stimulus Act and its publicity will inject more stakeholders into renewable energy. The more people choose to go green, the more impact they will obviously have and promote the development of renewable resources.
