Why Biltong and Nuts is Ideal for a Banting Diet

Most people have probably heard of the latest diet fad called the Banting diet. The Banting diet is popularized by Professor Tim Noaks with his best-selling book The Real Meal Revolution. Simply put, the idea behind the Banting diet is to eat low carb, high fat (LCHF) foods. This idea is totally against the popular belief of a low-fat, high-carbohydrate (LFHC) diet that the media taught us all these years. Instead of getting your energy from sugar or carbohydrates, you get it from fat and, in particular, from animal fat.

It is quite difficult these days for one to keep up with a diet in today’s fast-paced and busy environments. We are prone to eating fast foods and unhealthy snacks as we do not have time to prepare a proper meal during the day. So how can you maintain a diet like the Banting diet?

The answer is biltong. Biltong is rich in energy, protein and fat, but low in carbohydrates and does not contain sugar. Biltong also has a long shelf life, so you don’t need to buy it fresh every day or store it in the freezer. And to top it all, biltong tastes great. If you’re in a rush every morning and want to go on a diet like the Banting diet during your work day, just pack a few packs of biltong with you. To help you get through the day, you can add some healthy nuts to your daily food pack. Macadamias, almonds, or walnuts would be a great idea, as they are high-fat, low-carb foods.

Since biltong and walnuts are such convenient foods, you can store them in your drawer and as snacks whenever you like. For added convenience, you can purchase prepackaged biltong and walnut lunch boxes to help you stay within the limits of your diet.

The great thing about monthly prepackaged lunch packs is the fact that your diet plan is already put together for you, as the packs are labeled for each day. The idea is to snack in small amounts throughout the day when you are hungry and not have to eat a large lunch leaving you feeling full and sleepy in the afternoons.

Prepackaged biltong and walnuts also have the nutrition facts from the label contents, making it easy to keep track of the amount of fat, carbohydrate, protein, or calories you eat for each packet consumed. This makes keeping track of your diet a breeze.

So if you are lazy like me to pack lunch boxes and find it difficult to stick to a diet, lunch boxes packed with the correct amount of fat, protein and carbohydrates will be a great solution for you.
