Self defense using martial arts and pepper spray

Self defense is becoming more important as the number of personal attacks against children and adults increases around the world. There are some steps that can be taken to ensure personal safety. When I refer to personal security I mean physical security. You can increase your personal safety by using physical conditioning, common sense, and assisted methods that may be considered controversial, such as the use of pepper spray.

Physical condition

In the event of a personal physical attack, you can increase your chances of escaping by increasing your physical strength and conditioning. Weight lifting or strength training is enough on its own as a self defense mechanism. The reason for this is that you could be attacked by someone who is physically much larger than you.

It may have increased in strength relative to its size, but strength alone may not be enough to ward off an attacker. Disciplines like martial arts give you additional tools to defend yourself. Martial arts teach you mental discipline, physical discipline, stamina, and awareness of yourself and your environment.

Many martial arts training facilities focus on self defense and are reasonably priced. Depending on your city, they usually have specialized classes for children, men, women or only classes for women.

using common sense

You can decrease your chances of physical attack if you don’t expose yourself to dangerous situations. Here are some tips to use:

– Do not walk home alone at night if you can help it – travel in well-lit and populated areas

– If you exercise by walking or jogging, do not use headphones: someone could sneak up on you or not hear a vehicle and injure yourself.

– Do not accept rides from strangers or groups of strangers if you find yourself stranded somewhere – Carry a cell phone with you at all times so you can call the police if you are in danger

Additional Physical Assistance

Pepper spray is a substance used by law enforcement to subdue and protect themselves from physical harm by individuals who intend to cause harm. Pepper spray is now available as a personal item that you can keep in your purse or briefcase. Many runners carry personal pepper sprays to protect themselves from aggressive dogs or animals that are not on a leash or muzzle.

Remember that personal safety is your responsibility and by using mental and physical awareness you can reduce the likelihood of an attack.
