Childhood on Welfare by Kelly Bangert. Kelly grew up with a single mother and an older brother and sister. They were very poor during their childhood and received social assistance and food stamps for many years. He wore the clothes inherited from his brother and did not experience new clothes until the age of sixteen with a job of his own.

Poverty built his character. Kelly believes that poverty helped build her character.

1. It instilled in him a desire to get more out of life and seek a better path.
2. I knew there was a better way out.
3. He felt it was up to him to find that opportunity and choose what to do with it.
4. Inside, she knew she would have to decide how diligently and far she would push her potential.

At first he traded time for money. Kelly started in the workforce at a very young age. He had his first job when he was sixteen. When I was eighteen, we were working hard at two jobs. He set his sights higher and, at age twenty-one, became a police officer. He knew there was a better way to earn money, so at age 23 he founded his first company. At 28, he had started a second company. His life was consumed by work. There was no time for anything else. And then tragedy struck. Kelly Bangert was injured in the line of duty and medically removed from the police department. Kelly Bangert reflected on her life. After Kelly’s retirement from the Civil Service, he worked even longer hours to build his businesses. He worked tirelessly to exchange hours for dollars. When he turned thirty, he took a moment to reflect on what his life had really brought him. What had he gained for all that he had lost?

The sacrifice and the reward. Because experience had shown her that she wanted a life of spare time and residual income, Kelly decided not to rush into seeking short-term financial satisfaction. For the kind of long-term stability that Kelly saw her new company would need, she decided to spend time up front to build a solid foundation. Therefore, at first he did not focus on making money, but on careful training. He carefully designed his organization so that he could share a life of freedom with his family and those who rose up with him. He knew that a short-term sacrifice at first would soon give him a “life of spare time.” So far it is working. Kelly Bangert is now a seven-figure earner.
