How to remember winning poker hands and their range

The best way to remember poker hands and their ranking is to split them into 2 halves.

The first half is the low classification.

  • high card
  • 1 pair
  • 2 pairs
  • 3 of a kind
  • Straight

This part is quite easy.

It’s basically 1, 2, 3, straight.

The line is the straight line that divides the first half from the second half.

Visually it would look like this:

1 2 3 /

Representing 1 pair, 2 pairs, 3 of a kind and Straight.

A straight is 5 cards in sequence.

How do you remember what a ladder is?

A straight is a hand where all cards are neighbors.

Next door neighbors to be exact.

Both straight and neighboring ones have an (IGH) in the middle.

Visually it would look like this.

STRAIGHT = NEIGHBORS

back to rankings

Cards in the second half are ranked as follows:

  • RINSE
  • FULL HOUSE
  • FOUR OF A KIND
  • EMBED
  • ROYAL FLUSH

So how do you remember the card ranks for second half and highest ranked poker hands?

Just memorize this little saying.

“FLUSH, FULL, FOUR or Second FLUSH, Required”

The best way to remember this saying is to imagine rinsing your eyes or skin with water.

This may sound difficult at first, but it is very easy.

“FLUSH, FULL, FOUR or Second FLUSH, Required”

representing

  • RINSE
  • FULL HOUSE
  • FOUR OF A KIND
  • EMBED
  • ROYAL FLUSH

Pretty self explanatory except

Second FLUSH = Straight FLUSH and

Required = royal flush

FLUSH, FULL, FOUR or Second FLUSH, Required

The easiest way to check that you have correctly remembered the line is to see that the color has 5 letters, the full house has 9 letters, the poker has 11 letters and the straight color has 13, so they get progressively bigger as you go. you go up the ranking. .

Advice. Count the letters in the word four, not the number 4, and a royal flush will beat all other poker hands.

RINSE

A flush is a hand where all cards are of the same suit.

How do you remember what a blush is?

Both the color and the suit have a U in them.

Visually it would look like this.

blush = suit

Full house

A Full House is a pair and a set. The hand is ranked by the highest 3 of a class. In the event of a tie, the pair’s rankings are compared.

four of a kind

Four identical cards but of different suits.

straight flush

A straight flush is five consecutive cards of the same suit.

So a straight flush has 5 suited neighbors.

Royal flush

A royal flush is an ace-high straight flush. A royal flush will always be a 10, jack, queen, king and ace of the same suit.

A couple of things to keep in mind.

Someone wins every hand of Texas Holdem Poker, so if no one has even 1 pair, the person with the highest card wins. This is the lowest winning hand range.

If the cards on the flop are of the highest rank, then everyone still in the game shares that pot. For example, the cards on the flop might be 1 pair and if that’s the highest hand, anyone who hasn’t folded shares the pot.

It is also possible to have 5 of a kind if you are playing with more than one deck of cards or if you are playing with jokers. Although it doesn’t normally show up as a winning hand, it sits between a straight flush and a royal flush. There is nothing better than a Royal Flush, it is the highest poker hand with odds of 30,939 to 1.

Remember this mnemonic for poker hand ranges

1, 2, 3, Direct, FLUSH, FULL, FOUR or Second FLUSH, Required

Now you’ve learned what all the poker hands are and now you have a handy mnemonic device to remember your ranking.
