Natural parasites and predators are also effective in getting rid of cockroaches. Examples of these are wasps and house centipedes. These feed on both eggs and adult cockroaches, but most people find this treatment objectionable.

A simple and homemade way to kill cockroaches is a pitcher of water. Simply fill a jar halfway with water and some sort of bait, coffee grounds are a good option, and place along walls or baseboards. Cockroaches will crawl and will not be able to escape.

They are effective for up to 1-2 weeks and work well as a prevention method. Professional grade pesticides are available on the Internet. They are usually sprayed around your home and on foundations. They kill adult cockroaches and eggs and leave behind residue that can be effective for up to 3 months. Any chemical treatment can be harmful to humans, especially children and pets, so be sure to follow all instructions carefully.
