Divine feeling of reading books

Reading books has long been listed on millions of people’s hobbies on their resumes. It is considered one of the top 3 hobbies in the world. This shows that people love to read books and when there is a passion for something, it becomes a habit and thus the love of reading books has been the favorite of many book lovers.

The human mind is a very large computer with such a large capacity that it needs a large amount of knowledge to digest, and people who are interested in reading books are happy to have their minds satisfied to a certain extent. Various people have different tastes and likes in their choice of reading books. Some may like fiction; others may be interested in nonfiction or real-time stories, autobiographies, or spiritual books. There is a vast ocean of knowledge in any type of book one chooses and books have always been man’s best friend in happiness or sadness.

Extensive research has been carried out to find out if there is anything valuable or positive associated with reading books of your choice (fiction) not necessarily related to your job. Now it has been shown that reading books is definitely a good option as it helps the brain to relax and somewhere in the brain it has also shown various improvements in the thought pattern of the person while reading the book which helps to integrate with their work and leisure culture, maximizing their capacity. And this may be one of the reasons people would spend hours together on a novel and barely 10 minutes on an economics textbook.

People who read fiction often like a story that is told descriptively, allowing their mind to wander around the characters in the book. In doing so, they become involved along with the characters, the house, the furniture, and the garden, etc. and they react to the situation, act or fact as if it were happening to them in reality. One such investigation has established how brain patterns work when a person feels if they are reading words like “perfume”, “tempting”, “coffee”, etc. and how he reacts to other words like “an exhausting day”, “french window”. “picturesque view”, etc. The first set of words sends a signal to the brain and it reacts by sensing the aroma or taste, while the last set of words seemed like just a dry description. It means that the reader forms an image within his mind as he reads and therefore the effect is stronger. The person who reads can only understand the ups and downs of a particular novel and can really experience the fun of reading. Such an occurrence cannot occur when watching a movie or television, even if it is well narrated.

Reading a novel can make a person see in any way he imagines and it is completely satisfying for him as long as he enjoys the story which cannot happen in any other medium. Famous fiction novels include Mills & Boons in the romance section, Sidney Sheldon series in the thriller, Earl Stanley Gardener’s Perry Mason series, Sherlock Holmes as a detective, etc. In this world of technology, electronic media is completely in a superior position with the advancement of Internet, World Wide Web, blogs, etc. But this does not mean the death of the traditional reading of the Book. Whatever the medium, reading a book whether physical or online, the important thing is the value with which it is associated and the feeling of satisfaction that no one can steal.

Reading an autobiography has its own benefits, as a person’s life story is written with the author’s personal touch towards their experiences and their learning or findings during their life journey.

Many people would love to know the details of that person’s life, where they can borrow some facts in their lives. Usually, people tend to read the autobiography of a great personality as they are famous people with many followers, such as Mahatma Gandhi’s Story of My Experiments with Truth, Swami Vivekananda’s Biography, Sri Aurobindo’s Biography, the works of Sri Shankaracharya, etc.

Parents should encourage reading in their children from the age of 5. They can start with fairy tales like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel or even little cartoon books like the Phantom or Mandrake the Magician comics or the famous Archie. and the latest Harry Potter series. Aesop’s fables are popular for their moral stories, as are our Indian counterparts in Akbar and Birbal, Tenali Ramakrishna, etc. Once kids get a taste for reading books, the habit will lead them to explore The Famous Five, Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys mystery series. Various stories like The Three Musketeers, Sinbad the Sailor, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Far From the Madding Crowd, Shakespeare’s Othello, Macbeth, Hamlet, etc… have crowded audiences of all time. There seems to be an endless list of how many authors have described novels according to each person’s inclination and taste.

Some are interested in reading non-fiction books such as those inspired by Anne Frank Diaries, Stephen King’s on Writing, etc. It can also be some kind of science-oriented magazine or a research paper on some invention or some documentaries, travel books, diaries, essays, photographs or diagrams, etc. Some critical writers like Shobha De, Chetan Bhagat, Arundhati Roy etc. they are known for their articles as they express a different perception by criticizing in good spirits. Reading can be anything from reading the regular newspapers or any specific article in the newspaper or it can be some weekly or bi-weekly magazine. There is such a gigantic library to choose from for both young and old.

What it really feels like to read a book is left entirely to the reader himself and it is his decision to perceive something as good or bad. A book may be liked by many, but the same book may be disliked by a larger lot. This does not mean that the book can be called bad, as it is negative in most people’s minds. Books are such that you can take them wherever you go and start whenever you want, on the train or at the bus stop and when you are about to finish a book, you can even take it to the dining room or even forget about food. . There is a book for everyone and everyone should want to develop this habit so as not to lose the treasure of some very great minds. This divine feeling can only be felt by the avid book reader.
