Today, it is common to see players who can play multiple positions on the court. As everyone knows, only five players are allowed on the pitch for each team. Each position on the court can be seen as more of a role than a position. As said before, the game of basketball has developed over the years where you can see players develop more of a hybrid role and play more than one position.

Guard point:

This person tends to have the leadership role on the court, bringing the ball up every time and directing plays. The point guard must be the best ball handler, dribbler and passer of most of the players on the team. The point guard is responsible for carrying the ball down the court at the start of plays. The point guard also tends to be the smallest and fastest player on the team and uses his knowledge of the game to coordinate the offense. He’s not necessarily known for his shot because that’s not his main role on the court. However, it is common to see point guards take as many shots as other players on the floor.

Shooting guard:

This player is also one of the smallest players on the team. The shooting guard has to acquire skills like fast dribbling, passing, and having a good view of the court, just like the point guard would. The shooting guard also has similar skills to the point guard, such as carrying the ball down the court and setting up offensive plays. The shooting guard tends to be the player who takes the most shots on the court. The shooting guard also tends to be a 3-point specialist and an accurate shooter. In terms of height, shooting guards tend to be taller than point guards and are more accurate shooters than point guards.

small forward:

The interesting thing about small forwards is that they usually have the skills and abilities to play inside and out. Skills like ball handling, passing, court awareness, post moves and occasional shooting.

Power forward:

The power forward of a basketball team is usually the second tallest player on the team, who is close to the center in attributes and playing style, but faster in speed. A power forward has the function of playing under the rim or playing on a small forward or in the corners of the court. Most power forwards in the game today tend to have a more developed shot and it’s more common to see power forwards shoot 3s.

Center:

On the offensive end of the court, the center is responsible for opening up in the paint for an easy bucket using techniques like jump shots, hook shots, and being precise in using the backboard to make a basket. On the defensive end of the court, the center is responsible for blocking the paint on defense by blocking shots and passes and getting rebounds.
