A list of Jackie Chan stunts in which he nearly lost his life

On Jackie Chan’s stunt list, the incredible movie star has come close to death more times than you can count. Still, he keeps going, making some of the best martial arts movies in movie history. Here are seven Jackie Chan movies in which he nearly died, or at least sustained serious injuries.

One of his first movies, a truly revolutionary movie, was Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow. During this movie, he didn’t quite avoid a sword that should have been dull. The result was a spurt of royal blood, and the screams you hear are from his royal pain.

In Police Story he was nearly paralyzed by a tremendous fall. He slid down a pole in one scene, exploding lights and ripping electrical wires and falling through a cover of glass. In this scene the seventh and eighth vertebrae of the spine were broken and the pelvis dislocated.

During the filming of Crime Story, Jackie had a scene where he was trapped between two cars colliding together. Either their timing or the timing of the drivers wasn’t exactly what it should have been. The sequence resulted in a Jackie Chan stunt and a star with two crushed legs.

He has injured his knees more times than he can count and he doubts he has a lot of cartilage left in them. One of the worst knee injuries he sustained was during, of all things, a skateboarding scene. The movie was City Hunter.

One of his most famous injuries was while filming a scene while filming Rumble in the Bronx. He jumped and broke his ankle trying to land on a moving hovercraft. You can see, if you look closely, the cast that was put on his leg so that he could continue shooting the movie.

He nearly broke his neck while filming Project A. In this scene he fell from a clock tower, jumped from one awning to another, before landing head first on the ground. You can see this scene and other shots at the end of the movie.

However, the worst injury he received was during the filming of Armor of God. He jumped into a tree, missed the branch he was aiming for, and hit his head on the ground. The star is a soldier though, as two days after nearly dying from a cracked skull and brain hemorrhage, he was back filming and doing more of his incredible Jackie Chan stunts.
