Host a rave party

A dance party with electronic hip-hop music and light is often called a rave party. In these types of parties, DJs and other artists play rave songs with the spectacle of laser lights, projected images and artificial smog.

To organize a rave party you have to host a suitable space for it. A rave can be indoors or outdoors, but make sure you have an area large enough to accommodate all the ravers. Keep in mind that this is going to be a loud party and nobody likes the police coming to tell you to turn down the music. Make sure the place is dark as it adds to the effect of the lights. Stay away from the woody and boisterous types as well; are also not desirable. Also, keep seating to a minimum, preferably in a separate room, to discourage people from being idle.

The raves were punctuated with neon, fluorescent and graffiti-style artwork. You can easily create this same feeling by covering the walls with large rolls of contractor’s Kraft paper that are available at Home Depot and other home repair/hardware stores for very little cost, that have been painted or spray-painted in funky graffiti. .

Apparently the most important component of this party is the sound system and the dance music. Your teens will have all their favorite music on their iPods. Instead of hiring a DJ to select the songs, rent a couple of good speakers and a sound board when the projector light show starts.

Your food and beverage space should be separate from the dance area, to provide a quiet respite for tired guests. Provide 5- to 10-gallon hot tubs (such as those used on the sidelines of NFL games) of ice water and ice cold lemonade. Keep stacks of paper cups next to insulated containers, and place several large trash or recycling bins nearby to catch paper waste. Trays of store-bought cookies, candy, and chips or pretzels should be the only food item needed to complete your offering.

To dress for the rave party, be comfortable with what you decide to wear. Raves go on all night, so you don’t want shoes that cut into your ankles and straps that fall off your shoulders. Ask your friends what they are wearing. This is a good way to judge how you will dress for the night. Wear shoes you can dance in. If you can’t dance in heels, leave them at home. Even comfortable shoes can be difficult to move into. Think about the place when you dress for the night. A garden party will mean dirt and mud, so it’s probably a good idea to leave your designer clothes at home. Try to use something that works for breakfast the next morning in case you decide to grab a bite to eat with friends. You want to be as comfortable in your clothes after the rave as you are while you’re at it.
