Gifts: What do you give a couch potato?

So you know someone who likes to “have fun” in front of the television and you are looking for a gift for him or her. There are three ways you can choose your gift idea.

Option 1: Get them something that perfectly matches their TV junkie persona.

You are not trying to change them, you just want to get them something that they enjoy. Well, there is no shortage of movie and television gifts out there. You can choose a gift membership to Zip.ca (Canada) or Blockbuster Online (US), where they can rent unlimited DVDs each month for a price. Or get a fancy universal remote. They will be in control from the comfort of their sofa, how fitting! They will enjoy their TV and movies more with a home theater system or LCD TV. Or how about turning them into a “chair potato” with a robotic leather massage chair!

Option 2: Get physically active.

Your TV addict can still watch TV while exercising. Our favorite gift idea in this category is a portable minicycle that you can use while sitting on the couch (or at a desk, etc.). The best of both worlds! Similar to that (but not quite as “convenient”) is a climber or a side climber. But they have to get off the couch for that.

Option 3: Get them out of the house.

This is basically inconsistent with everything that is loved by your TV addict. But it might be the best for them! Try to get them golf lessons, cooking classes, a tent and sleeping bag, or a weekend getaway. They may like it!
