Apple’s new iPhone has become the new fad, but there are a lot of people scratching their heads as to how these smartphones work with other operating systems, power / battery replacement, etc. Here are some common iPhone-related facts to help you determine if this is the phone for you.

Microsoft Windows compatibility: The iPhone will work with Windows XP Home or Professional (SP2) and Windows Vista.

International capacity: The iPhone is actually a quad-band GSM phone and will work anywhere in the world where GSM coverage is available. However, international dialing and roaming must be enabled through AT&T.

The iPhone and email systems: IPhone supports POP3 and IMAP and works with most popular email services, such as Yahoo! Mail, AOL, .Mac Mail and Google Gmail.

Charging the iPhone: A USB 2.0 cable included with the iPhone charges the phone while it is connected to your computer or to a USB power adapter (also included). Generally, iPhone has 8 hours of talk time, 7 hours of video playback. 6 hours of Internet use and around 24 hours of audio playback if fully charged to its original capacity. The phone also has up to 250 hours of standby time.

Battery change: The iPhone battery was designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 400 full charge / discharge cycles. The battery will not need to be replaced until it can no longer hold a sufficient charge to meet your needs.

Website display: The iPhone includes the Safari web browser, and you can visit websites just like you would on your personal computer.

Internet access: If you cannot get a Wi-Fi connection, you will still be able to access the Internet using AT & T’s Edge data network.
